Pakistan, Saudi Arabia Deepen Strategic Ties During Sharif-Bin Salman Meeting

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Makkah on Thursday, marking a significant step in deepening Pakistan-Saudi Arabia strategic cooperation, with a focus on economic partnerships, defense collaboration, and regional stability.

The official meeting, held at Mina Palace, brought together key figures from both sides. PM Sharif was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and Information Minister Attaullah Tarar.

The leaders exchanged Eid al-Adha greetings and emphasized their shared commitment to strengthening bilateral ties rooted in shared history, religion, and mutual strategic interests.

With key economic projects on the agenda, both nations emphasized boosting Saudi investments in Pakistan’s energy, infrastructure, and mining sectors. They pledged to accelerate joint ventures and economic collaboration through strategic agreements and high-level follow-ups.

In defense cooperation, they discussed expanding joint military training, intelligence sharing, and security initiatives to combat regional threats and ensure mutual stability.

The meeting also addressed pressing regional concerns, including the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. PM Sharif and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman called for an immediate ceasefire and emphasized the international community’s responsibility to provide humanitarian assistance.

Additionally, the Saudi Crown Prince reaffirmed his commitment to supporting peaceful dialogue between Pakistan and India, highlighting the Kingdom’s role as a stabilizing force in the region.

Prime Minister Sharif extended a formal invitation to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to visit Pakistan. The Crown Prince accepted, underscoring the growing momentum in diplomatic and economic engagement between the two nations.

The Pakistani delegation also performed Umrah during the visit, symbolizing the spiritual connection and cultural affinity that continues to strengthen Pakistan-Saudi Arabia relations.
