Pakistan Secures 24 Medals on Opening Day of Asian Taekwondo Open Championship
Pakistan delivered an outstanding performance at the Combaxx 7th Asian Taekwondo Open Championship 2025, clinching 24 medals in the Poomsae category on the tournament’s opening day. The event is being held at Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex.
The national team showcased technical mastery and precision, winning 8 gold, 7 silver, and 9 bronze medals across individual and pair competitions. This strong start positions Pakistan as a formidable contender in the championship.
Gold Medalists (Poomsae Category):
- Hussain Adil – Under 30 (Male)
- Hussain Mudassar – Under 40 (Male)
- Khan Muhammad – Under 50 (Male)
- Nisa Mehr Un – Under 30 (Female)
- Sabir Sana – Under 50 (Female)
- Hussain/Naila – Pair Under 30
- Mumtaz/Bashir – Pair Over 30
- Hashemi Sayed Zarif (Afghanistan) – Under 60 (Male)
Athletes Latif Kainat, Shafaqat Aqsa, Ahmed Shahbaz, Anas Muhammad, Ali Irshad, and Usmani Rafia also contributed to Pakistan’s impressive medal tally in the Poomsae division.
The championship, organized by the Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF) in collaboration with Combaxx, aims to promote Taekwondo in Pakistan and provide local athletes with valuable international exposure.
PTF President Col. (R) Waseem Ahmed Janjua praised the national team’s exceptional performance, stating, “Securing 24 medals on the opening day is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our athletes and coaches. This is just the beginning, and we look forward to even greater success as the championship progresses.”
