Pakistan is set to make history by hosting its inaugural World Boxing Championship in Lahore on January 25. The event, championed by World Youth Boxing Champion Usman Wazir, is a significant step towards promoting boxing in the country.
The championship will feature athletes from five nations, including Indonesia, Iran, Thailand, and France, competing in ten matches for the prestigious title.
Usman Wazir, expressing enthusiasm for the event, appealed to Punjab’s Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan to extend their support and sponsorship.
“Unlike cricket, other sports have received less recognition, but events like this will showcase Pakistan’s talent and boost its image on the international stage,” Wazir stated.
Promising boxer Khushal Khan, representing Pakistan, is set to face an Indonesian opponent. With an undefeated record in his last 14 fights, Khushal attributed his inspiration to Usman Wazir and shared his determination to claim victory and elevate Pakistan’s standing in the boxing world.
Looking ahead, Wazir expressed plans to organize future mega boxing events in Islamabad, aiming to further inspire youth and bolster the country’s reputation in the sport globally.
