
Pakistan, Turkiye Discuss Strengthening Trade and Defense Cooperation

Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, met with Irfan Neziroglu, the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkiye to Pakistan. The discussion revolved around enhancing the strong, historical ties between the two countries, focusing particularly on boosting trade, investment, and defense cooperation.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Finance, Senator Aurangzeb welcomed Ambassador Neziroglu to Pakistan, highlighting the deep-rooted fraternal relationship between the two nations. The minister emphasized the potential to increase bilateral trade and collaboration in various sectors.
Aurangzeb also recalled his recent discussions with Turkiye’s Treasury and Finance Minister, Mehmet Simsek, during the World Bank Group/IMF Annual Meetings in Washington, D.C., where both sides explored opportunities for greater economic cooperation.
The Finance Minister encouraged Turkish businesses to invest in joint ventures with Pakistani firms, especially in information technology and agriculture, and noted that Pakistan could benefit from Turkiye’s expertise in power sector reforms.
Ambassador Neziroglu expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s ongoing economic reforms, acknowledging the country’s progress in achieving macroeconomic stability. He reaffirmed Turkiye’s commitment to further strengthening the bilateral relationship, ensuring continued cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
