Pakistan, US Vow to Boost Bilateral Ties and Regional Security in High-Level Call
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a telephonic conversation with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Monday, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations, enhancing economic cooperation, and addressing regional security challenges.
According to an official statement, Deputy Prime Minister Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to expanding its strategic partnership with the United States. He emphasized the importance of deepening collaboration in key sectors such as trade, investment, and counter-terrorism.
Secretary Rubio echoed these sentiments, expressing Washington’s interest in working closely with Islamabad, particularly in the critical minerals sector. He noted that economic and trade cooperation would be central to the future of US-Pakistan relations.
Dar also highlighted Pakistan’s substantial efforts and sacrifices in its fight against terrorism, particularly between 2013 and 2018, which had resulted in significant economic and human costs. Secretary Rubio commended Pakistan’s role in combating terrorism and expressed interest in further strengthening counter-terrorism cooperation.
The ongoing situation in Afghanistan was another key topic of discussion. Both leaders recognized the importance of addressing the issue of US military equipment left behind following the 2021 withdrawal and agreed on the need for a resolution.
The call concluded with both sides agreeing to maintain close communication and to work jointly on advancing shared strategic interests across political, security, and economic domains.
This conversation marks a continuation of efforts to revitalize US-Pakistan relations amidst evolving regional dynamics and growing economic engagement.
