Pakistani Ambassador Meets Former Egyptian Minister to Discuss Archaeological Cooperation
Pakistan’s Ambassador to Egypt, Aamir Shouket, held a significant meeting in Cairo with world-renowned archaeologist and Egyptologist Dr. Zahi Hawass, who also previously served as Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities.
The meeting, which took place on Tuesday, focused on strengthening bilateral collaboration in the preservation and protection of archaeological and cultural heritage in both Pakistan and Egypt.
Promoting Cultural Diplomacy Through Heritage Protection
Dr. Zahi Hawass is internationally recognized for his contributions to Egyptology and global archaeological initiatives. His engagement with Pakistani officials highlights a growing interest in promoting cultural diplomacy and heritage-based cooperation between the two countries.
Ambassador Shouket emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to conserving its own archaeological sites, such as those from the Indus Valley Civilization, and expressed hope for future academic and institutional exchanges with Egypt.
Shared Legacy of Ancient Civilizations
Both Pakistan and Egypt are home to rich and ancient civilizations — from the pyramids of Giza to the ruins of Mohenjo-Daro. This meeting signifies a potential boost in bilateral efforts to share expertise, promote sustainable tourism, and protect historical landmarks.
