RAWALPINDI — Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir NI (M) is on an official visit to the United States, where he has held high-level meetings with senior American political and military leaders, as well as prominent members of the Pakistani diaspora.
In Tampa, Florida, the COAS attended the Retirement Ceremony of outgoing United States Central Command (CENTCOM) Commander General Michael E. Kurilla and the Change of Command Ceremony where Admiral Brad Cooper assumed leadership of CENTCOM, according to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Praising General Kurilla’s “exemplary leadership” and “invaluable contributions” to strengthening US-Pakistan military cooperation, Asim Munir expressed confidence that Admiral Cooper would continue to build on the partnership to address shared regional and global security challenges.
During his visit, the COAS also met Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine to discuss matters of mutual professional interest and extended a formal invitation for General Caine to visit Pakistan. On the sidelines of the visit, he engaged with Chiefs of Defence from allied nations to explore avenues for expanded defence collaboration.
In an interactive session with the Pakistani-American diaspora, Asim Munir encouraged expatriates to maintain faith in Pakistan’s “bright future” and to play a proactive role in attracting foreign investments. Members of the diaspora reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Pakistan’s economic growth and national development.
