A Pakistani court in Rawalpindi has sentenced four individuals to death and 80 years in prison for sharing blasphemous content on social media. The court Rs. 5.2 million also imposed a fine of on the convicts.

The verdict was announced after an extensive trial where the prosecution presented substantial evidence proving the accused were involved in spreading religiously offensive material online. The case was registered under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act and multiple sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, including laws addressing religious incitement and hate speech.

The court emphasized that blasphemy is a serious offense that threatens social harmony and must be dealt with strictly. The ruling stated that firm action is necessary to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The convicts were sentenced to death, along with 80 years of imprisonment collectively, and were ordered to pay a hefty fine. Legal experts believe this decision sets a strong precedent against online hate speech and religiously offensive content.
