Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi participated in a series of strategic meetings in Budapest, focusing on migration and human trafficking issues.
During his visit to Hungary, Mohsin Naqvi met with key figures including Switzerland’s Migration Minister Christine Schraner Burener and Johannes Luchner, the European Union’s Head of Migration and Home Affairs. Michael Spindelegger, Director General of the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), also held talks with Naqvi, where they delved into shared concerns and strategies to combat illegal migration.
Minister Naqvi stressed the urgency for joint action, stating, *“Human trafficking has evolved into a multifaceted global challenge that no single nation can tackle alone due to the complex network of international mafias.”* He called for collective international efforts, welcoming the collaboration of the European Union and ICMPD in creating effective deterrence.
He further emphasized the need for a unified global policy to curb illegal migration, saying, *“We must work together now to create sustainable measures that will leave a better legacy for future generations.”*
Naqvi highlighted the importance of increased collaboration through exchange programs and strengthening institutional capabilities. He called for training initiatives involving Swiss, EU, and ICMPD support to equip relevant authorities with the skills needed to address these challenges.
The participating delegations affirmed their commitment to bolstering partnerships and cooperation. The Pakistani Ambassador to Hungary, Asif Hussain Memon, along with other diplomats, was present to support these engagements.
