Pakistani Lawmakers Pay Tribute to Late Vietnamese President Tran Duc Luong
The Convener of the Pakistan–Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group, MNA Ms. Saba Sadiq, has extended heartfelt condolences on the passing of former Vietnamese President Tran Duc Luong, acknowledging his pivotal role in fostering strong ties between Pakistan and Vietnam.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Ms. Saba Sadiq described the late leader as a close friend of Pakistan who made history as the only Vietnamese president to visit the country. His landmark trip to Pakistan in March 2004 significantly strengthened diplomatic, trade, and economic relations between the two nations.
“President Tran Duc Luong was a visionary statesman and a firm supporter of enhancing bilateral cooperation. His historic visit laid the groundwork for long-term engagement between Pakistan and Vietnam,” she noted.
Other members of the Pakistan–Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group, including MNAs Ms. Asia Naz Tanoli, Ms. Shahnaz Saleem Malik, Ms. Kiran Haider, Ms. Akhtar Bibi, and Ms. Shaista Khan, also expressed deep grief over his demise. They praised the late president’s dedication to building enduring diplomatic and economic relations with Pakistan.
President Tran Duc Luong, who served as Vietnam’s head of state from 1997 to 2006 and held a senior position in the Communist Party, passed away in Hanoi at the age of 88. He is remembered as a respected leader who played a vital role in Vietnam’s global outreach and regional cooperation.
Pakistani leaders acknowledged his passing as a significant loss and celebrated his legacy of friendship, mutual respect, and international collaboration.
