ISLAMABAD – President Asif Ali Zardari has returned to Pakistan following a multi-city visit to China, where he held wide-ranging talks with Chinese leadership on strengthening bilateral relations, economic cooperation, and regional stability.
The President’s visit covered Chengdu, Shanghai, Urumqi, and Kashgar, where he met senior provincial leaders and discussed opportunities to deepen collaboration under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Talks also focused on developing new economic corridors to expand trade, connectivity, and investment.
During his engagements, President Zardari highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to the Pak-China all-weather strategic partnership, calling the visit a renewed pledge to deepen cooperation across multiple sectors.
He also emphasized the importance of regional peace, development, and security for long-term prosperity. Several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) were signed to expand collaboration in trade, infrastructure, energy, and technology.
The discussions further addressed Pakistan and China’s shared vision for promoting regional peace and development, with both sides agreeing to continue working closely on initiatives of mutual benefit.
President Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong support for CPEC and its expansion into new corridors that would enhance connectivity across South and Central Asia.
