Pakistani President to Visit China from September 12–21 to Boost Bilateral Ties

Islamabad — At the invitation of the Chinese government, President Asif Ali Zardari will undertake an official visit to China from September 12 to 21, the Foreign Office announced on Thursday.

According to the spokesperson, the President’s itinerary includes stops in Chengdu, Shanghai, and the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, where he will hold meetings with senior provincial leadership and key stakeholders.

The visit will center on strengthening Pakistan-China bilateral relations, with a strong emphasis on economic cooperation, trade expansion, and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Both sides are also expected to deliberate on future connectivity initiatives that aim to enhance regional integration and prosperity.

In addition to economic dialogue, discussions will cover multilateral cooperation, showcasing the two nations’ alignment on regional and global issues.

The Foreign Office highlighted that the visit reaffirms the tradition of high-level exchanges between Islamabad and Beijing, reflecting their shared commitment to an All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.

“President Zardari’s visit underscores Pakistan and China’s mutual support on issues of core national interest while advancing economic, trade, and connectivity projects including CPEC,” the spokesperson stated.

The visit is also aimed at demonstrating the two countries’ joint resolve to promote peace, stability, and development across the region.
