Pakistani Scientist Wins Khalifa International Award for Agricultural Innovation

Dr. Ghulam Sarwar Markhand, a distinguished Pakistani scientist, has been awarded the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation in the “Influential Figure” category.

The prestigious award, presented under the patronage of UAE Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, honors outstanding contributions in date palm cultivation and agricultural research.

This year, the award received 187 nominations from 28 countries, reflecting its global impact in promoting sustainability and agricultural advancements.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, congratulated Dr. Markhand on his achievement, acknowledging his role in advancing agricultural innovation. He also commended the UAE’s efforts in fostering international collaboration in research and sustainability.

Ambassador Tirmizi emphasized that this recognition not only highlights Pakistan’s contributions to scientific research but also strengthens Pakistan-UAE relations in the field of agriculture and technology.

Dr. Markhand’s success serves as an inspiration for researchers and scientists worldwide, encouraging further advancements in food security, environmental sustainability, and innovative agricultural practices.
