Pakistan’s Acting Consul General in Birmingham, Kamran Malik, Passes Away
Kamran Ahmed Malik, the Acting Consul General of Pakistan in Birmingham, has passed away following a prolonged battle with cancer. The Foreign Office confirmed his passing on February 16, 2025, marking a somber moment for Pakistan’s diplomatic community.
Mr. Malik had been serving as Acting Consul General in Birmingham since July 2024. Throughout his tenure, he was recognized for his unwavering dedication, professionalism, and commitment to representing Pakistan on the international stage. His passing leaves a void in both the diplomatic and expatriate communities.
The Foreign Office expressed deep sorrow, acknowledging his contributions and resilience.
His strength in the face of adversity was truly commendable,” stated Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan.
Beginning his government service in 2007, Mr. Malik joined the Foreign Service of Pakistan in 2014. Over the years, he held key diplomatic assignments in France and the Czech Republic, where he played a vital role in strengthening Pakistan’s international relations. His ability to engage with global counterparts and foster bilateral ties made him a respected figure in diplomatic circles.
The Pakistan High Commission in the UK paid tribute to Mr. Malik, recognizing him as a committed professional and a devoted family man.
“Kamran Malik was an exceptional diplomat whose contributions will be remembered. The officers and staff of the High Commission, under the leadership of High Commissioner Dr. Mohammad Faisal, extend their deepest condolences to his family,” read an official statement.
His passing is a great loss to Pakistan’s foreign service, and his legacy of dedication and service will continue to inspire future diplomats.
