Pakistan’s Meat Exports to China: hit $3.37 Million Achieved in 2024

Pakistan has made significant strides in its meat export sector, with exports to China soaring to **$3.37 million** from January to September 2024. The General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) reported this milestone, highlighting the growing appetite among Chinese consumers for high-quality meat from diverse sources.

Ghulam Qadir, the Trade and Investment Counsellor at the Pakistan Embassy in Beijing, emphasized that Chinese consumers are increasingly adventurous in their culinary choices, seeking out premium meat options. This trend aligns well with Pakistan’s robust tradition in meat production, particularly in beef and mutton, and plays into China’s broader strategy of diversifying meat sources to enhance food security.

The impressive growth in exports is attributed to a combination of hard work and strategic initiatives. The Pakistani government has taken proactive steps to bolster export capabilities, while local meat exporters have demonstrated their ability to meet China’s stringent quality standards. Their efforts in maintaining hygiene and ensuring a consistent supply have positioned them as strong competitors in the international market.

In the landscape of meat exports to China, Pakistan stands alongside Mongolia, which exported **2,410 tons** valued at **$10.24 million** during the same period. Pakistan’s figures reflect exports of **694 tons** valued at **$3.371 million**.

It is also important to note that the GACC allowed Pakistani companies to export boiled meat to China last year, and to date, three Pakistani firms have registered with the authority for this purpose. This development marks a significant milestone in enhancing trade relations between the two countries and opens doors for future growth in Pakistan’s meat export industry.
