Islamabad — The Pakistan Cleft Lip and Palate Association (PCLAPA), led by its coordinator Aziz ur Rehman Mujahid, took part in a blood donation drive hosted by the Indonesian Embassy in Islamabad. The event, organized on the invitation of Mr. Hilal Ahmed, was held as part of Indonesia’s Independence Day celebrations, highlighting the spirit of humanitarian service and diplomatic friendship.

Members of the PCLAPA delegation, including Mr. Mujahid, donated blood in support of the humanitarian campaign. The event aimed to strengthen Pakistan–Indonesia friendship while promoting life-saving healthcare initiatives.

During the visit, Mr. Mujahid expressed his deep appreciation for Ambassador Lieutenant General (Retd.) Chandra, praising his warm regard for Pakistan and its people. He spoke about the role of Ayesha Bashir Hospital, Gujrat, a non-profit, state-of-the-art facility that has gained international recognition for providing specialized surgical treatment for congenital cleft lip and palate.

The hospital regularly hosts medical teams from Europe and the United Kingdom, who conduct biannual training sessions and share expertise with local doctors.

When asked by the Ambassador about the causes of cleft conditions, Mr. Mujahid noted that research in this field is ongoing. He also proposed arranging a meeting between the Ambassador and Dr. Ijaz Bashir, founder of Ayesha Bashir Hospital, along with his medical team. The Ambassador welcomed the suggestion and assured that such a meeting would be scheduled soon.

The engagement reflected the mutual desire to strengthen Pakistan–Indonesia relations through healthcare collaboration, community welfare, and cross-cultural understanding. Both parties reaffirmed their dedication to joint initiatives aimed at improving lives and promoting global humanitarian solidarity.
