ISLAMABAD – A special aircraft of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has departed for Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, to bring back Pakistani nationals stranded in Iran. The flight is expected to arrive in Islamabad later tonight with 150 repatriated passengers.

According to official sources, around 150 Pakistani nationals were moved from the Iranian city of Mashhad to Ashgabat with the assistance of the Pakistani Embassy in Tehran. The specially arranged PIA flight is scheduled to return to Islamabad later tonight with the evacuees onboard.

The repatriation was part of a coordinated effort by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which recently announced the evacuation of non-essential staff and families of Pakistani diplomats from Iran. Arrangements for the safe passage of Pakistani citizens to Ashgabat were made in close collaboration with the embassy and local authorities.

This operation highlights Pakistan’s commitment to the safety and welfare of its citizens abroad during periods of heightened uncertainty. The government has reaffirmed its resolve to take all necessary measures to ensure the protection of nationals in conflict-prone regions.
