Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has made the decision to halt all flights that utilize Iranian airspace. A PIA spokesperson confirmed that orders have been issued to all pilots and flight operations to avoid Iranian airspace, prompting a reassessment of flight plans.
The spokesperson stated that flights will not enter Iranian airspace until the situation stabilizes. PIA typically operates through two corridors in Iran: the Northern Corridor, used for flights to Canada and Turkey, and the Southern Corridor, servicing routes to the UAE, Bahrain, Doha, and Saudi Arabia.
This precautionary measure underscores PIA’s commitment to passenger safety amid escalating tensions in the region, reflecting broader concerns over air travel security as conflicts unfold.
