Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has arrived in Baku, Azerbaijan, for a two-day official visit aimed at strengthening diplomatic, economic, and strategic ties between the two nations.

Official Reception at Heydar Aliyev International Airport

The Prime Minister was welcomed at Heydar Aliyev International Airport by senior Azerbaijani officials, including First Deputy Prime Minister Yaqub Abdulla oğlu Eyyubov, Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev, and Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Pakistan Khazar Farkhadov. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Qasim Mohiuddin was also present to receive the delegation.

Key Discussions on Economic and Strategic Cooperation

During his visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will meet with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and top government officials. The talks will focus on:

  • Bilateral trade Boosting and opportunities of investment .
  • Energy cooperation, including joint ventures in oil, gas, and renewable energy.
  • Defense collaboration to enhance security and regional stability.
  • Expanding cultural and educational exchanges to promote stronger people-to-people ties.
  • Climate change initiatives and sustainable development strategies.

Major Agreements Expected

Both nations are expected to sign multiple agreements and MoUs to facilitate long-term economic cooperation. These agreements will focus on trade expansion, investment facilitation, and infrastructure development.

Pakistan-Azerbaijan Business Forum

As part of the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will address the Pakistan-Azerbaijan Business Forum, bringing together key business leaders, investors, and policymakers from both nations. The forum aims to unlock new opportunities in commerce, IT, tourism, and industrial sectors.

High-Level Delegation Accompanying PM

The Prime Minister is accompanied by a ministerial delegation, including:

  • Muhammad Ishaq Dar  (Foreign Minister)
  • Jam Kamal Khan (Minister for Commerce)
  • Abdul Aleem Khan (Minister for Investment & Privatization)
  • Chaudhry Salik Hussain (Minister for Overseas Pakistanis & Human Resource Development)
  • Ataullah Tarar (Minister for Information & Broadcasting)
  • Syed Tariq Fatemi (Special Assistant to the Prime Minister)

Strengthening Diplomatic and Trade Relations

Pakistan and Azerbaijan share a deep-rooted relationship, built on mutual respect and economic collaboration. This visit underscores the commitment to expanding trade, investment, and strategic cooperation, positioning both countries for long-term growth and regional influence.

With high-level discussions and agreements expected, this visit is set to strengthen Pakistan-Azerbaijan ties, fostering greater economic and diplomatic engagement.
