
PM Shehbaz Attends 25th SCO Summit in Tianjin, Meets Regional Leaders

Tianjin, China — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif joined regional and international leaders at the 25th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State (CHS) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), held in Tianjin, China.
Upon his arrival at the Meijiang Convention Center, the Prime Minister was welcomed by Chinese President Xi Jinping. Leaders from member states later gathered for a family photograph before proceeding to the formal summit sessions.
During the summit, Prime Minister Shehbaz will:
* Deliver an address at the SCO and SCO Plus sessions.
* Hold bilateral discussions with several participating heads of state.
* Emphasize Pakistan’s commitment to regional stability, trade, and connectivity initiatives.
The summit brings together the Heads of State and Government from SCO member states, including Pakistan, China, Russia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Belarus.
The SCO Plus format includes leaders from Mongolia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cambodia, Nepal, Türkiye, Egypt, the Maldives, Myanmar, Turkmenistan, Malaysia, Laos, Vietnam, and Indonesia, along with the UN Secretary-General and heads of regional and international organizations.
The expanded engagement underscores SCO’s role as a key multilateral platform for promoting regional security, economic cooperation, and global partnerships.
Following the summit, Prime Minister Shehbaz will travel to Beijing to participate in China’s Victory Day celebrations, marking another significant moment in Pakistan-China diplomatic ties.
