ISLAMABAD — Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday held a telephone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, expressing Pakistan’s firm condemnation of the recent United States airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear sites and reaffirming unwavering support for the Iranian people and government.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Shehbaz Sharif condemned the American strikes, which followed over a week of Israeli aggression, and voiced deep concern over the violation of international law. The Prime Minister noted that the targeted Iranian facilities were under the safeguards of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), making the attacks particularly alarming.

“These strikes represent a serious breach of international law and undermine the IAEA Statute,” Shehbaz Sharif stressed.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed Iran’s inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter. However, he emphasized the urgent need for restraint and a return to dialogue as the only viable path toward lasting peace in the region.

“The current escalation poses a serious threat to regional stability. Collective efforts for de-escalation and renewed diplomatic engagement must begin immediately,” he urged.

Shehbaz Sharif also conveyed Pakistan’s readiness to facilitate and support any peace efforts, reaffirming the country’s role as a constructive partner for regional harmony.

During the call, Shehbaz Sharif offered heartfelt condolences to the Iranian leadership over the loss of lives in the strikes and prayed for the recovery of the injured.

President Pezeshkian expressed deep gratitude to Pakistan for its principled position and timely support. He also thanked the Pakistani leadership, people, and armed forces for standing in solidarity with Iran during this critical juncture.

Both leaders underscored the importance of fostering greater unity among Muslim nations in the face of growing regional challenges. They agreed to remain in close contact and continue consultation on future developments.
