Addressing the launch ceremony, the premier praised the transformation of the historic railway station. “From courteous reception staff and upgraded CIP lounges to high-standard waiting rooms and a fully modernized train with European-style dining and sleeper compartments—this overhaul is truly impressive,” he said.

The Pak Business Express will run between Lahore and Karachi, covering the distance in 18 hours and 30 minutes, with economy-class tickets priced at Rs 5,100.

PM Shehbaz emphasized that these reforms are designed for the entire population, not just a privileged few. “Railways must serve the common citizen. This is a milestone toward making rail a world-class choice for both passengers and cargo,” he stated.

He commended the introduction of digital ticketing, Wi-Fi access, and outsourced services, citing these as steps to ensure professionalism and transparency.

The Prime Minister acknowledged the contributions of Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi, the Railways Secretary and Chairman, and also gave special mention to former Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique for his “16 months of dedicated service.”

Shehbaz Sharif directed officials to maintain train punctuality, ensure transparent outsourcing of railway assets, and transform them into profitable, reliable public utilities. He called for expanding this transformation nationwide—from Peshawar and Quetta to Karachi and Rohri.

“The journey has just begun,” he remarked. “With sincerity and hard work, we will build a rail system that Pakistanis can be proud of.”

During his address, the Prime Minister also paid tribute to Pakistan’s Armed Forces for their performance in the recent four-day conflict with India, describing it as “short yet dangerous.”

He praised the Pakistan Army’s use of Al Fatah missiles, the Air Force’s indigenous innovations, and the Navy’s state of readiness. “India believed we were reliant only on nuclear deterrence—but our conventional warfare capability has shattered that myth,” Shehbaz asserted.

Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi thanked the Prime Minister for his leadership, highlighting achievements such as:

  • Railways revenue reaching Rs 93 billion
  • Installation of escalators for differently-abled passengers
  • Major strides in cleanliness, punctuality, and cashless payment systems

Abbasi also credited PM Shehbaz’s diplomatic strength during the recent standoff with India, saying, “His direct interventions and firm stance re positioned Pakistan strongly on the global stage.”
