PM Shehbaz Sharif Launches Relief Fund for Palestine and Lebanon

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced the establishment of a Prime Minister’s Relief Fund aimed at providing crucial humanitarian aid to Palestine and Lebanon. During a federal cabinet meeting, he emphasized the importance of this initiative in response to the ongoing crises affecting these regions. The cabinet has instructed the State Bank of Pakistan to set up an account for the fund, with Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal designated to oversee the relief efforts.

In addition to the relief fund, the cabinet ratified agreements for subsidies in the fishing sector, aligning with the directives of the World Trade Organization (WTO). The meeting also resulted in the approval of a memorandum to recognize Gwadar and Shanghai as sister ports, which is expected to enhance trade relations.

Moreover, memorandums of understanding were approved between Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry and the ministries of Rwanda and Ghana, aimed at strengthening diplomatic ties. The cabinet granted judicial magistrates in Gwadar and Hub the authority to hear drug-related cases, reinforcing Pakistan’s commitment to tackling drug trafficking.

The cabinet also confirmed prior decisions made by various committees regarding legislative cases, Chinese investment projects, and government-owned enterprises.
