Pope Francis Recovering in Hospital as Health Improves.
Pope Francis continues to receive medical care at Rome’s Agostino Gemelli Hospital, where recent tests indicate signs of improvement following his treatment for a respiratory infection. The Holy See Press Office confirmed that his medical therapy has been slightly adjusted based on new microbiological findings.
Health Update: Signs of Improvement
According to an official statement, the 86-year-old Pontiff rested well overnight and did not experience fever. Laboratory results from Saturday showed positive progress in certain health parameters, offering reassurance about his recovery.
“The examinations confirm the respiratory tract infection. The therapy has been slightly modified, and today’s tests indicate improvements in some values,” the Vatican statement said.
Throughout the morning, Pope Francis received the Eucharist and spent time in prayer and reading, while also alternating between periods of rest.
Pope to Skip Sunday Angelus Prayer
Due to medical advice recommending complete rest, Pope Francis will not lead the Angelus prayer on Sunday, February 16. Instead, a prepared text will be published on his behalf.
The Vatican also conveyed the Pope’s gratitude for the overwhelming messages of support he has received from around the world.
“Pope Francis was admitted to Gemelli Hospital on Friday morning after experiencing complications from bronchitis. The Vatican has assured that he is under close medical supervision, with further updates to follow.
