President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday stressed the need for improving railroad connectivity between Pakistan and Turkiye to strengthen trade ties, economic cooperation, and foster deeper people-to-people connections.
meeting with the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, Numan Kurtulmuş, on the sidelines of the International Forum in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, President Zardari urged closer bilateral ties and more frequent exchanges of delegations to reinforce the relationship between the two nations.
High-ranking Pakistani officials, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti, were also present.
President Zardari hailed Turkiye as a true friend of Pakistan and a key player in the Muslim world, recognizing its strong stance on issues affecting the Muslim Ummah and its consistent advocacy for justice.
The leaders discussed the ongoing humanitarian crises in Palestine and Lebanon, expressing deep concern over the continued violence and civilian casualties. Both emphasized the need for united and urgent efforts by the Muslim world to address these pressing challenges.
In his remarks, President Zardari expressed confidence in Turkiye’s trajectory toward becoming an economic powerhouse, offering his best wishes for the country’s continued prosperity and success.
