
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Embarks on 5-Day Visit to the USA

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif is set to arrive in New York today to attend the United Nations General Assembly. He is accompanied by key ministers, including Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Federal Minister for Education Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi.
During his visit, the Prime Minister will deliver an address at the General Assembly, participate in the SDG Moment 2024 focused on Sustainable Development Goals. He will also attend a significant meeting on the risks posed by rising sea levels.
In addition, PM Sharif plans to meet with the USA-Pakistan Business Council and Pakistani bankers to discuss the government’s investor-friendly policies.
He is expected to hold discussions with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, General Assembly President Philemon Yang, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Gates Foundation founder Bill Gates.
A special meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will focus on efforts to address ongoing Israeli oppression in Palestine, urging the international community to take swift action.
The Prime Minister will also engage in bilateral talks with leaders of friendly nations and attend a luncheon hosted by the Sultan of Brunei to celebrate the country’s 40 years of UN membership, as well as a dinner hosted by Bangladeshi Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus in honor of Bangladesh’s 50 years in the UN.
Throughout his visit, PM Sharif aims to highlight critical issues such as climate change, Pakistan’s sacrifices in combating regional terrorism, challenges faced by indebted nations, the plight of Kashmir under Indian occupation, and the ongoing humanitarian crisis facing Palestinians.
