Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif: “Disruptors Cannot Stomach the Nation’s Progress”

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, addressing a federal cabinet meeting, strongly condemned recent protests, describing them as harmful to the country’s economic stability and overall progress. He emphasized that decisive actions are needed to ensure Pakistan’s prosperity and curb repeated disruptions.

The Prime Minister highlighted the severe economic damage caused by the protests. “The stock exchange, which stood at 99,300 points a few days ago, fell by 4,000 points due to these disruptions. These dangerous trends began in 2014, bringing 126 days of destruction and even postponing the Chinese President’s visit,” he stated.

Shahbaz Sharif lauded the effective coordination of law enforcement agencies, including the police, Rangers, and the military, in neutralizing the protests. “Our forces devised a strategic response, with the Army Chief providing robust support,” he said, recognizing their efforts in maintaining order.

Addressing national security, the Prime Minister expressed concern over rising terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Baluchistan. “The tragedy in Kurram, where dozens of innocent lives were lost, highlights the negligence of the provincial government,” he remarked.

The Prime Minister criticized the opposition’s recent actions, describing them as subversive rather than political. “This is not a movement but outright sabotage and sedition. There is no place for violence and mob politics in a democratic society,” he asserted.

Shahbaz Sharif pointed to signs of economic recovery, crediting collective efforts by allied political parties. “Our coordinated efforts have prevented a national default. The economy is stabilizing, and this is the result of teamwork and sacrifices made by leaders like Nawaz Sharif, Asif Zardari, and Maulana Fazlur Rehman,” he noted.

The Prime Minister dismissed claims of electoral interference, calling for accountability for alleged rigging in 2018. He also condemned statements against friendly nations, labeling them as acts of hostility. “Spreading venom against partner countries is unacceptable and amounts to undermining national interests,” he said.

In conclusion, Shahbaz Sharif emphasized the need for collective resolve to address the nation’s challenges. “We must decide how to move forward. We will not let the hands that harm Pakistan succeed,” he declared, urging all stakeholders to prioritize the nation’s progress over personal agendas.
