Report By Safarti Tarjuman International Desk
Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani announced on Sunday that recent efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza have shown some progress. but final agreement between Israel and Hamas remains difficult to achieve.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Doha, Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the urgent need to end the conflict.
> “We observed some progress on Thursday compared to earlier meetings. But the key question remains unanswered — how to end this war,” he said.
Talks Between Israel and Hamas Remain Stalled
The Qatari Prime Minister noted that while discussions had advanced slightly, Hamas and Israel still lack a common objective. This divide continues to complicate negotiations.
According to Sheikh Mohammed, Hamas has indicated a willingness to release all remaining Israeli hostages if Israel agrees to end its military campaign in Gaza. However, Israel insists on the hostages’ release first, without committing to a comprehensive end to the war.
> “Without a shared goal between the two sides, the chance of ending this war becomes very slim,” Sheikh Mohammed warned.
Turkey Pushes for Lasting Peace
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that Hamas appeared open to a broader agreement that could lead to a lasting solution, including the potential for a two-state framework.
A senior Turkish diplomat added that Hamas reaffirmed its efforts toward a permanent ceasefire and discussed recent developments during the meetings.
Fidan emphasized that Turkey would continue its international and bilateral initiatives to promote peace in Gaza.
