
PTA, Huawei Sign MoU to Boost IT and Telecom Cooperation

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and Huawei Pakistan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening cooperation in the country’s Information Technology (IT) and Telecom sectors.
The agreement, which was formalized at the PTA Headquarters, covers several key areas including:
- Capacity building
- Technology innovation
- Cybersecurity
- Digital inclusion
The MoU lays the foundation for significant advancements in emerging technologies such as 5G, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Internet of Things (IoT). The two organizations are also committed to enhancing the security of digital infrastructure and bridging the digital divide across the country.
Chairman PTA, Major General (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman, emphasized the importance of the partnership, saying, “This MoU represents a significant step in Pakistan’s digital transformation, enabling enhanced infrastructure and fostering innovation for sustainable growth.”
Huawei’s Deputy CEO in Pakistan, Ahmed Bilal Masud, reaffirmed Huawei’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s digital ecosystem, stating, “Huawei remains committed to empowering Pakistan’s digital ecosystem and advancing its technological capabilities.”
This collaboration is aligned with Pakistan’s vision of creating a digitally empowered economy. It aims to ensure technological excellence and promote equitable access to IT services, contributing to the country’s overall digital growth and competitiveness.
