
Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Proposes Solar Manufacturing Plant in Punjab to Chinese Solar Company

Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz has extended an offer to a Chinese solar company to establish a manufacturing plant in Punjab, aiming to reduce dependence on traditional fuels by harnessing solar energy.
During her visit to the company’s facilities in Shanghai, CM Maryam Nawaz and her team were briefed on the company’s solar technology and high-quality solar products. The meeting emphasized the importance of transferring solar technology and exchanging knowledge between China and Punjab. CM Maryam Nawaz proposed that the Chinese solar company consider setting up a manufacturing plant in Punjab, with the Punjab government’s team working on the details.
Additionally, the company has been invited to establish charging stations in the province, in line with the government’s push towards promoting renewable energy.
Maryam Nawaz expressed her commitment to the development of affordable and sustainable solar energy projects in Punjab. She highlighted the ongoing mega solar panel project in the province, which aims to meet rising energy demands while addressing environmental concerns.
She further remarked that Punjab holds significant potential for solar energy production, and with its vast opportunities, Pakistan can significantly reduce reliance on conventional energy sources. Solar energy, she emphasized, would not only lower electricity costs but also help mitigate the effects of climate change.
The Chief Minister reiterated the provincial government’s dedication to providing affordable, renewable energy to the public, particularly through solar power initiatives in public institutions, residential areas, and rural communities. Her government’s vision is to transform Punjab into a hub for renewable energy.
