Record-Breaking Pilgrim Attendance Expected for Hajj 2025 Amid Enhanced Facilities
Report by Syed Farzand Ali
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is preparing for a record-breaking number of pilgrims for Hajj 2025, as authorities introduce enhanced infrastructure and digital services to streamline the pilgrimage experience.
According to the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, over 3.5 million pilgrims are expected to arrive in Makkah and Madinah, surpassing the previous record. This increase follows the kingdom’s successful post-pandemic revival of Hajj operations.
Advanced Digital Services for Seamless Pilgrimage
To improve the experience for pilgrims, Saudi Arabia has launched a new digital platform that offers:
✔ E-Visa processing for quicker approvals
✔ AI-powered navigation apps for real-time crowd management
✔ Smart bracelets for tracking lost pilgrims and emergency alerts
These innovations aim to reduce overcrowding and ensure health and safety compliance throughout the pilgrimage.
Expansion of Holy Sites and Transport Infrastructure
Saudi authorities have also expanded facilities at Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah, increasing accommodation capacity by 20%. Additionally, new metro train routes and dedicated Hajj highways will ease transportation for pilgrims, reducing travel time between sites.
Health and Safety Measures Strengthened
To accommodate the high influx of visitors, the Saudi government has deployed:
🩺 5,000 medical staff across emergency units
🚑 200+ mobile health clinics near major pilgrimage sites
💧 Enhanced water and cooling systems to prevent heat-related illnesses
Global Pilgrims Welcoming Expanded Quotas
The Saudi government has also increased Hajj quotas for several countries, ensuring that more Muslims worldwide can fulfill their spiritual journey. This decision aligns with Vision 2030, which aims to make Saudi Arabia a hub for religious tourism.
