
Romanian Envoy and APP MD Discuss Strengthening Ties Between National News Agencies

Romanian Charge d’Affaires in Pakistan, Eduard Robert Preda, met with Muhammad Asim Khichi, Managing Director of Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), on Friday to discuss enhanced cooperation between the national news agencies of Romania and Pakistan.
The meeting focused on expanding collaboration between APP and Romania’s Agerpres, with Preda emphasizing the importance of building connections in education, culture, tourism, and labor. He highlighted the growing role of information technology, stressing that the two agencies should prioritize exchanging news and information to foster stronger ties.
“This partnership can significantly contribute to improving people-to-people contact,” said Preda, adding that deeper communication links could open doors for cooperation in media, business, tourism, and other sectors.
MD APP, Muhammad Asim Khichi, confirmed that efforts would be accelerated to formalize a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two agencies. The MoU aims to benefit both nations by enhancing their access to each other’s news and perspectives.
Romanian Head of Consular Affairs Christian Stelian Coroma, who was also present, spoke about the opportunities for Pakistani students in Romania, mentioning the availability of quality education at lower costs compared to other countries. He noted that Romanian universities offer various courses along with scholarship options. Coroma added that Romanian companies are also open to providing work permits for unskilled Pakistani workers, aiming to offer them better living standards.
The meeting was also attended by Muhammad Ilyas Khan, Director of International News and Diplomatic Affairs at APP, and Mudassar Iqbal, Deputy Director of Diplomatic and Global Affairs. Souvenirs were exchanged at the end of the meeting as a gesture of goodwill between the representatives.
