Russia Claims Capture of Another Village in Ukraine’s Donetsk Region
Russia announced on Tuesday that its forces had taken control of another settlement in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk region, further advancing its offensive in the area.
According to a statement from the Russian Defense Ministry, its troops captured the village of Vovkove, located approximately 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) southwest of the strategic city of Pokrovsk. The city has become a focal point of intense fighting, serving as a crucial logistics hub for Ukrainian forces in the region.
Moscow has regularly reported territorial gains in Donetsk over the past few months, with Pokrovsk emerging as a key battleground due to its proximity to the Russian border. The region has witnessed some of the heaviest combat in recent weeks as Russian forces attempt to push deeper into Ukrainian-held territory.
Ukrainian officials have not yet responded to Russia’s latest claims, and due to the ongoing conflict, independent verification remains challenging. The war continues to escalate, with both sides engaged in fierce battles across multiple fronts in eastern Ukraine.
