Russia Delivers 31 Tons of Humanitarian Aid to Pakistan
Russia has provided a 31-ton humanitarian aid package to Pakistan, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and supporting those in need. The aid, which includes clothing, medicines, food, and baby formula, was officially handed over by Russian Ambassador Albert P. Khorev at Islamabad International Airport on Thursday.
During the handover ceremony, Ambassador Khorev emphasized the significance of humanitarian cooperation in enhancing Russia-Pakistan relations. He highlighted that these ties are currently at their strongest, with both nations working together across multiple sectors.
“As we approach the end of Ramadan, this gesture of goodwill reflects the strong bond between our nations. Russia has always stood by Pakistan in times of crisis, and we remain committed to supporting our friends,” he said.
A History of Russian Assistance to Pakistan
The ambassador recalled Russia’s history of aiding Pakistan during critical times, including the 2005 earthquake that devastated northern Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as well as the 2022 floods that caused widespread destruction across the country.
Solidarity Against Terrorism
Acknowledging recent terrorist attacks in Pakistan, Khorev stressed the importance of unity in combating extremism. He expressed concern over the suffering caused by militant violence and inter-communal conflicts, which have left many civilians in dire conditions.
Khorev also extended his gratitude to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations for their swift response in assisting Pakistan once again.
This humanitarian initiative further strengthens diplomatic ties between Pakistan and Russia, reinforcing mutual cooperation in humanitarian efforts and disaster relief.
