Russian Federation Council Approves Comprehensive Strategic Agreement with Iran
The Russian Federation Council has officially approved the “Comprehensive Strategic Agreement” signed between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation, marking a new era of long-term, multidimensional cooperation between the two nations.
The landmark agreement was signed on January 18, 2025, during Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian’s visit to Moscow. It lays out a clear legal framework for expanding bilateral cooperation across key sectors and formally recognizes Iran and Russia as strategic partners.
The agreement encompasses wide-ranging collaboration in areas including defense, counterterrorism, energy, finance, transportation, industry, agriculture, culture, and science and technology.
Analysts believe the strategic accord will significantly deepen political and economic ties between Tehran and Moscow, especially amid ongoing geopolitical tensions and Western sanctions. It also signals a shared commitment to strengthening regional stability and pursuing a multipolar world order.
This high-level alignment reflects both nations’ resolve to expand long-term cooperation on a foundation of mutual respect, shared interests, and strategic convergence.
