Russian Pro-War Bloggers Condemn U.S. Ceasefire Proposal, Call It a Tactical Deception
Russia’s pro-war military analysts and nationalist bloggers have strongly opposed the United States’ recent proposal for a 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine, branding it a strategic maneuver to give Kyiv time to regroup and receive fresh military aid. The proposal, reportedly backed by Ukraine after discussions in Saudi Arabia, has triggered widespread backlash among Russian war commentators.
While the Kremlin stated that it is awaiting further details from Washington before making an official decision, influential military bloggers have already dismissed the initiative as a calculated move to stall Russia’s battlefield progress.
The widely followed Archangel of Special Forces Telegram channel, boasting over 1.1 million subscribers, argued that Ukraine—not Russia—would benefit from the pause, using it to fortify defensive lines and prepare for renewed offensives.
“The ceasefire period is short but crucial for Ukraine to rearm, reposition, and stabilize its front lines.
Russian nationalist philosopher Alexander Dugin suggested that political motives in Washington were influencing the ceasefire push. He claimed that former U.S. President Donald Trump faces internal opposition and that his political rivals are maneuvering to alter America’s stance on the war.
Blogger Boris Rozhin, who has a following of over 866,000 on Telegram, warned that Kyiv would exploit the ceasefire to create an illusion of peace talks while secretly reinforcing its military capabilities.
Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on Wednesday that its forces had reclaimed five villages in the Kursk region, further fueling the argument that Russia is in a position of strength and does not need a pause.
War correspondent Alexander Kots dismissed the ceasefire outright, recalling past attempts at peace talks that allegedly led to Ukrainian offensives instead.
“Why should Russia agree to a pause that offers us no advantage? Ukraine would only use the time to fortify its positions,” commented another well-known military blogger, Alex Parker Returns.
With Russian forces advancing and the Ukrainian military under increasing pressure, pro-war voices in Russia are urging the Kremlin to reject the ceasefire, viewing it as a Western attempt to undermine Moscow’s momentum on the battlefield.
