Saudi Arabia Achieves Top Ranking in Global Artificial Intelligence Index

In a significant milestone, Saudi Arabia has secured the 14th position globally and the top spot in the Arab world in the latest International Artificial Intelligence Index. This index, endorsed by the United Nations, evaluates the AI performance of 83 countries.

The Kingdom’s leadership in the government strategy category for artificial intelligence has been consistent, positioning it as the fastest-growing nation in this domain with an impressive leap of 17 ranks in the index. Additionally, Saudi Arabia ranks seventh globally in commercial AI standards, reflecting its strong commitment to investing in and advancing AI technologies.

The AI index, which was initiated in 2019, assesses seven critical categories: government strategy, operating environment, infrastructure, research, development, capability, and trade, totaling 122 metrics.

This achievement reaffirms the crucial role of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), which is backed by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the authority’s Board of Directors, in propelling the nation’s AI initiatives forward.

The ranking also indicates a robust focus on fostering innovation in the AI sector, aimed at ensuring sustainable economic growth through data-driven capabilities.
