Saudi Arabia Calls for Peaceful Solution to Pakistan-India Conflict, Condemns Civilian Losses
Saudi Arabia has emphasized the urgent need for a peaceful and diplomatic resolution to the escalating tensions between Pakistan and India, urging both nations to engage in dialogue based on international law and United Nations Security Council resolutions.
The statement came during a meeting between Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Adel Al-Jubeir, at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad. The Saudi minister is on an official visit to Pakistan.
Minister Al-Jubeir conveyed the Kingdom’s deep concern over the deteriorating situation in South Asia and reiterated Saudi Arabia’s support for de-escalation and long-term regional stability.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the Saudi envoy and commended the enduring friendship between the two brotherly nations. He expressed gratitude for Riyadh’s unwavering diplomatic and economic support to Pakistan.
Addressing the current security crisis, the prime minister strongly condemned India’s recent missile and drone strikes on Pakistani territory. He stated that these unprovoked attacks violated Pakistan’s sovereignty and resulted in the tragic loss of innocent civilian lives, including women and children, along with significant damage to civilian infrastructure.
The prime minister paid tribute to the valiant soldiers of Pakistan’s armed forces for their courage and professionalism in responding to hostile aggression. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s firm commitment to defend its territorial integrity under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.
Shehbaz Sharif also praised Saudi Arabia’s role in regional diplomacy and its commitment to peace and cooperation. He conveyed his heartfelt regards to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, acknowledging their consistent support for Pakistan.
The Saudi minister expressed condolences over the civilian casualties and reaffirmed the Kingdom’s dedication to promoting peace and stability across South Asia.
