Saudi Grand Mufti Urges Hajj Pilgrims to Follow Health Rules and Obtain Official Permits
RIYADH, May 30 – Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Al-Sheikh, the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia, has urged all Muslims preparing for Hajj 1446 AH to fully adhere to official regulations, including securing a valid Hajj permit and receiving mandatory vaccinations.
In his message, the Grand Mufti, who also serves as President of the Council of Senior Scholars and the General Presidency for Scholarly Research and Ifta, emphasized that performing Hajj without a legal permit violates both religious and civil principles. He described such actions as disruptive to public order and contrary to Islamic teachings that promote harmony and societal well-being.
He warned that bypassing the official Hajj process undermines the sacred values of the pilgrimage and constitutes disobedience to rightful authority. The Grand Mufti stressed that these violations not only invite legal consequences but also damage the sanctity of Hajj.
On the health front, Sheikh Al Al-Sheikh called on all pilgrims to receive the vaccinations mandated by the Ministry of Health. He reaffirmed that protecting public health during Hajj, one of the world’s largest religious gatherings, is a religious duty. Pilgrims were also urged to cooperate with health and security personnel and follow all guidelines to ensure a safe and spiritually meaningful experience.
Commending Saudi Arabia’s leadership, the Grand Mufti expressed his deep appreciation for King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. He praised their continued dedication to serving the pilgrims and maintaining world-class standards of safety, health, and organization.
