Security Forces Thwart Infiltration Attempt, Eliminate Eight Terrorists in North Waziristan
Pakistan’s security forces successfully foiled an infiltration attempt by militants, killing eight terrorists in a firefight along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in the Hassan Khel area of North Waziristan on Sunday night.
In a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), it was confirmed that the terrorists, members of a known militant group, attempted to infiltrate into Pakistan from Afghanistan. Pakistani security forces responded swiftly, resulting in the death of eight terrorists and the injury of four others.
“After an intense exchange of fire, the security forces effectively neutralized the threat,” the ISPR statement said. “The bodies of the terrorists have been retrieved, and a sanitization operation is currently underway to clear the area of any remaining militants.”
The operation comes amid growing concerns over the security of the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, where terrorist groups continue to exploit the porous border for attacks against Pakistan. Pakistan has consistently urged the Afghan government to enhance border security and prevent the use of Afghan territory by militants.
“The Interim Afghan Government must take responsibility and ensure that Afghan soil is not used for launching attacks against Pakistan,” the statement added.
