A small plane crashed into the heart of Gramado, a city in southern Brazil, on Sunday morning, killing at least 10 people. The aircraft, which had just taken off, collided with multiple buildings, including a residence, a chimney, and a furniture store. The crash caused a fire, sending thick smoke into the air and injuring 17 others, many of whom were hospitalized due to smoke inhalation.
According to local authorities, the plane crashed shortly after departing, striking structures in its path and leaving debris scattered across the area. Video footage from the scene showed the aftermath: fires burning near buildings, with smoke filling the sky.
While the exact cause of the crash is still under investigation, initial reports suggest that no one survived on board. The plane was carrying 10 people, but it is unclear if all of the fatalities were passengers or others involved in the crash.
Authorities stated that two of the injured are in serious condition due to burns from the fire. Gramado, a popular mountain resort known for its Christmas festivities.
