Sudanese Military Retakes Republican Palace in Khartoum
The Sudanese army has successfully reclaimed the Republican Palace in Khartoum, marking a significant breakthrough in its battle against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). This victory comes after nearly two years of fierce clashes between the two factions.
In a video shared online, Sudanese soldiers were seen celebrating inside the damaged palace, raising weapons and chanting slogans. Information Minister Khaled al-Aiser confirmed the takeover, stating that the national flag now flies once again over the historic site.
The Republican Palace, a symbol of power in Sudan, was seized by the RSF in April 2023. Its recovery deals a strategic and psychological blow to the paramilitary group, significantly weakening its hold in Khartoum.
However, the conflict is far from over. The RSF still controls key territories in western Sudan and along border regions, leading to ongoing battles in critical locations. The humanitarian crisis continues to worsen, with thousands of civilians affected by displacement, violence, and limited access to resources.
The Sudanese conflict, which erupted in April 2023, has already led to thousands of deaths and widespread destruction. International organizations have raised concerns over war crimes and human rights violations, urging both parties to end hostilities and seek diplomatic solutions.
As the Sudanese military advances, the world watches closely, hoping for a resolution that can restore stability and peace to the war-torn nation.
