Temporary banned Employment Processing for working in Uzbekistan

Temporary banned Employment Processing for working in Uzbekistan

The Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment (BE&OE) has announced a temporary suspension on processing employment for Pakistanis heading to Uzbekistan. This action comes after reports from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs flagged alarming issues regarding delayed wages and harsh working conditions faced by Pakistani laborers in Uzbekistan.

BE&OE has issued instructions to all Protectorate offices across the country, including those in Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, and Peshawar, to cease issuing Protectors for Uzbekistan. Without this mandatory authorization, no Pakistani worker can legally travel abroad for employment.

For urgent or exceptional cases, applications may still be forwarded to the Pakistani Embassy in Uzbekistan. However, final approval will depend on thorough verification of documents and employer credentials. This measure ensures workers’ safety and prevents further grievances.

This suspension reflects the government’s commitment to worker welfare. Officials confirmed ongoing negotiations with Uzbek authorities to resolve the situation and prevent such issues in the future. Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Overseas Pakistanis are collaborating closely to develop long-term solutions.

Reports from Uzbekistan revealed instances of delayed salaries and substandard working conditions for Pakistani employees. In response, the government aims to strengthen oversight mechanisms and ensure that employment agreements are honored by host nations.
