Terrorist Attack on Jaffar Express in Pakistan (Baluchistan), Hostage Situation raised concerns

Report by Syed Farzand Ali

A terrorist attack on the Jaffar Express has been reported in Bolan Pass, Baluchistan, leaving multiple passengers, including the train’s engine driver, injured. The attack has raised concerns over a potential hostage situation, with authorities losing communication with the train’s crew.

According to Quetta Railway Division Controller, Muhammad Kashif, the passenger train, carrying hundreds of passengers from Quetta to Rawalpindi and Peshawar, came under attack near Tunnel No. 8 in the Kachhi district. The intense gunfire and explosions forced the train to halt inside a tunnel, severing communication between the crew and authorities.

The banned Baloch Army (terrorist Organization) has claimed responsibility for the attack, further escalating security concerns in the region. Authorities fear that passengers may have been taken hostage as communication with the train staff remains unresponsive.

Security forces have been mobilized to launch an operation and rescue passengers.
