Thanksgiving Day Ceremony Held at Pakistan Monument, Prime Minister Honours National Heroes
A grand ceremony was held at the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad to mark Thanksgiving Day, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif attending as the chief guest. The event commenced with a guard of honor presented by the armed forces, paying tribute to the premier and all distinguished guests.
High-ranking officials including Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, the chiefs of Pakistan Army, Navy, and Air Force, as well as Federal Ministers Ishaq Dar, Khawaja Asif, and Atta Tarar were present. Senior civil and military leaders, diplomats, national artists, journalists, and war veterans also attended the occasion.
The Pakistan Air Force conducted an impressive flypast, as fighter jets performed aerial maneuvers above the monument, honoring the valor and determination of the nation. Attendees paid tribute to the martyrs with prayers, while students from various schools presented patriotic songs dedicated to the memory of the fallen heroes, receiving heartfelt applause from the audience.
During his speech, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended special salutations to the families of the martyrs and praised the leadership of General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, General Syed Asim Munir, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu. He also acknowledged the contributions of journalists, artists, and national icons in strengthening the spirit of unity.
Prime Minister Sharif declared the day as a rare and historic occasion in the life of the nation, stating that such moments of national gratitude are gifted to only a few in centuries. He recalled a tragic incident that occurred five decades ago and thanked the Almighty for guiding the country to this day of reflection, pride, and unity.
