Thousands Protest in London Against Trump’s Gaza Takeover Plan
Thousands of pro-Palestinian demonstrators took to the streets of central London on Saturday, marching to the United States embassy to protest against U.S. President Donald Trump’s controversial proposal for a U.S. takeover of Gaza. The large-scale demonstration, organized by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC), was one of the biggest protests in the UK since the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict escalated.
Mass Demonstrations Against Trump’s Gaza Plan
Carrying Palestinian flags and banners reading “Hands off Gaza” and “Stand up to Trump,” thousands of protesters marched from Whitehall in Westminster to the U.S. embassy in Nine Elms. The protest was triggered by Trump’s recent remarks suggesting that the United States should “redevelop Gaza into the Riviera of the Middle East,” an idea that includes the forced displacement of Palestinians without any guarantee of their return.
The proposal has drawn global condemnation from Western allies and the Arab world, who view it as an unacceptable violation of Palestinian rights and sovereignty.
Voices from the Protest
Many protesters expressed their anger and rejection of Trump’s idea.
“You cannot simply displace two million people. The surrounding countries have already made it clear they won’t accept them because it would destabilize their own regions. It’s not a solution—it’s a reckless provocation,” Kapos told AFP.
