United Nations — U.S. President Donald Trump delivered a fiery speech at the United Nations General Assembly, launching sharp criticism at world leaders over immigration, climate change, Russia, and the recognition of a Palestinian state.

In a 56-minute address, Trump accused many countries of pursuing “suicidal policies” on energy and migration, warning: “Your countries are going to hell.” The combative tone marked a return to form for Trump, who regularly clashed with the UN during his first presidency.

Rejecting global climate efforts, Trump branded climate change a “con job” and called for renewed reliance on fossil fuels. He argued that Europe’s green energy transition was self-destructive and warned that such policies would weaken Western economies.

His remarks came just days after meeting King Charles III, a vocal advocate for climate action — underscoring stark policy differences.

Trump urged world leaders to emulate his administration’s strict immigration measures, portraying migration as a threat to national identity.

“I’m really good at this stuff. Your countries are going to hell,” he said, drawing criticism from human rights advocates who argue migrants are fleeing war and poverty.

On Ukraine, Trump criticized NATO allies for continuing to buy Russian oil, accusing them of funding Moscow’s war. He warned that unless Russia agrees to negotiate, the U.S. is prepared to impose “a very strong round of powerful tariffs.”

He urged European nations to adopt identical sanctions for maximum impact and later met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, who appealed for more U.S. support.

Addressing the Middle East crisis, Trump rejected moves by European powers to recognize a Palestinian state, calling it a dangerous reward for Hamas.

“The rewards would be too great for Hamas terrorists, for their atrocities,” he told world leaders, insisting that peace must begin with the release of hostages seized in the October 2023 attacks.

Trump reiterated his call for a ceasefire-for-hostages deal and was due to meet with Gulf leaders to discuss Gaza’s post-war governance.

Trump also took aim at the UN itself, joking that he and First Lady Melania Trump were once stranded on a broken escalator inside headquarters and that his teleprompter malfunctioned during his address.
