Trump Blasts Zelenskyy for Rejecting Ceasefire Deal That Includes Crimea Concession
Report By Safarti Tarjuman International Desk
U.S. President Donald Trump has sharply criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy after Kyiv turned down a proposed ceasefire agreement that reportedly involves acknowledging Crimea as Russian territory.
Ceasefire Proposal Rejected
The proposal, believed to have backing from Trump’s team, aims to halt hostilities by freezing the current front lines. This would leave Crimea and parts of eastern Ukraine under Russian control. President Zelenskyy rejected the plan outright, reaffirming Ukraine’s unwavering stance on maintaining its territorial integrity.
“Crimea is Ukraine — full stop,” Zelenskyy said during a televised address. “No deal that sacrifices our sovereignty will be accepted.”
Trump’s Response
Reacting to the rejection, Trump accused Zelenskyy of missing an opportunity to end the war. He suggested that refusing such terms could prolong the suffering of Ukrainians.
“Zelenskyy had the chance to stop the bloodshed,” Trump stated. “Peace was on the table, and he walked away.”
U.S. Officials Signal Possible Withdrawal from Talks
U.S. Vice President JD Vance echoed Trump’s frustration, hinting that Washington might scale back its involvement in brokering future negotiations unless Ukraine shows more flexibility.
“If Ukraine continues to refuse reasonable peace proposals, we may have to reconsider our role,” Vance said.
