U.S. President Donald Trump announced that India and Pakistan have agreed to an immediate and complete ceasefire following intense overnight negotiations mediated by the United States.
Posting on social media platform X, President Trump stated, “After a long night of discussions under U.S. mediation, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire.” He congratulated both nations for choosing wisdom and diplomacy, thanking the public for their attention to the matter.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed the development, noting that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif demonstrated leadership and maturity by reaching the agreement. He also stated that both sides agreed to meet at a neutral venue for further dialogue on key issues.
The negotiations involved high-level participation, including the Indian and Pakistani Army Chiefs and their respective National Security Advisors. U.S. Vice President Elise Vance also played an active role in the talks.
Secretary Rubio praised the visionary leadership of both prime ministers, calling the initiation of peace talks between India and Pakistan a positive and hopeful step for regional stability.
