Trump Criticizes Zelensky, Says He Is ‘Not Ready for Peace’

U.S. President Donald Trump has accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of not being prepared for a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine conflict, following a tense meeting at the White House.

In a statement on Truth Social, Trump remarked that Zelensky views U.S. involvement as a strategic advantage rather than a step toward peace. “He is not ready for peace if America is involved, because he believes our presence strengthens his position in negotiations. I don’t want an advantage—I want peace,” Trump stated.

The U.S. president further criticized Zelensky’s approach, suggesting that the Ukrainian leader had disrespected the Oval Office. “He can return when he is genuinely ready for peace,” Trump added.

In response, Zelensky reiterated Ukraine’s commitment to securing a just and lasting peace. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he expressed gratitude to the U.S. government and its people, emphasizing that Ukraine remains dedicated to diplomatic efforts.

The exchange underscores rising tensions between Washington and Kyiv as the Biden administration navigates its stance on the ongoing war.
